anIf you’re wondering whether NordVPN supports PayPal, it does not anymore! The VPN giant has decided to drop the support of PayPal payments back in 2019, due to reasons that are uncertain. We say this because NordVPN only gave away reason as little as a “difference or disagreements on an ideological level.”
However, what’s new in the works, is that NordVPN replaces the PayPal option with a new mode of payment – introducing “Adyen” the Dutch payment service and “Paddle.”
Of course, without following word of mouth, I did contact the NordVPN support and asked whether PayPal had been discontinued, to which they mentioned that it’s still very much active.
However, when we signed in to our NordVPN account, there seemed to be no PayPal option. There were complaints from other NordVPN users as well regarding the very same issue. Those who paid for NordVPN via PayPal, all received an email regarding the discontinuation of the partnership between NordVPN and PayPal.
To make up for the inconveniences caused, NordVPN allowed the PayPal-bought-NordVPN users to continue with their subscription, but at the same time, charged a smaller fee using another payment method.
Are there any PayPal alternatives to pay for NordVPN?
If you’re not happy with PayPal no longer being a payment option to buy a NordVPN subscription, there are still other great alternatives that NordVPN offers. You can pay for the subscription through your credit cards, pre-paid cards, cryptocurrency, Amazon Pay, Google Pay, and others.
Other than that, and what’s new on the lines is that NordVPN partnered up with another reliable payment processor called Adyen. This makes a great substitute for all those who want to pay for NordVPN with PayPal.
NordVPN is one of the best VPN services loved worldwide for its reliable performance and its ability to always stay one step ahead. With that said, they’ve always envisioned a self-hosted payment system, and Adyen is the ultimate solution for that. Its services are recognized worldwide.
In the eyes of NordVPN, they’ve found what they were looking for in Dutch service Adyen, whom sprouts a payment system of their own, and which is user-friendly and flexible. This makes it an effective choice for users to consider. Other than that, NordVPN had announced to offer users some local regional payment options for customers.
Other than Adyen, NordVPN also introduced “Paddle” to their payment method system, as an alternative for users who still can’t let go of PayPal. They will be able to buy a NordVPN account with Paddle via PayPal.
If you’re also wondering whether the NordVPN Lifetime service is still active, it is not. There are still other more affordable packages that you can look into, and check out using any one of the payment methods mentioned.
NordVPN – Key features and analysis
NordVPN is loved by users and is the more popular option among other VPNs for a number of reasons:
Safe headquarters and no logs policy
The provider is located in a privacy-safe region in Panama. This is perfect for users who are privacy-centric. All user data is protected, not logged, nor shared. The provider only stores non-identifiable data, as stated in their strict no-logs policy.
To add to its privacy-centered focus, the provider has gone through multiple independent audits, proving its transparency all the more.
Network of servers
Users require VPN services to bypass geo-blocks, online surveillance, censorship and more. The VPN you choose needs to be able to offer a great number of servers that work consistently. NordVPN has around 5100+ servers in 60 countries, optimized to unblock the best streaming services, bypass ISP throttling, and many other perks.
Streaming allowance and speed
As mentioned, users love streaming, and when we tested the NordVPN app, we got access to Netflix and a couple of its libraries, Hulu, BBC iPlayer, Hotstar, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime and many others. There’s also a NordVPN SmartPlay feature that allows you to access a large number of geographically blocked services. The speed was also some of the fastest we’ve encountered in a while, which also depends on the internet connection speeds as a whole.
We tested the VPN using a local connection of 105 Mbps, and the speeds using the US server were around 100Mbps. Here’s an excerpt from our NordVPN review speed results:
Security and privacy features
NordVPN offers the best for online data, device, and privacy protection. The app operates using AES 256-bit encryption, matched with OpenVPN and WireGuard protocols. There is also a Kill Switch that you can enable from the app, and Double VPN servers for extra protection. Its CyberSec feature blocks ads. The VPN also comes with DNS leak protection and much more!
Device compatibility and multi-device connections
You can connect up to 6 devices simultaneously with NordVPN. Plus, NordVPN offers apps for all the popular devices. It supports apps for Windows, Android, iOS, macOS, routers, Firestick and others.
NordVPN offers more in its package. Even though NordVPN discontinued PayPal, there are still reliable payment options you can consider. It won’t change the overall reliability of the VPN.
To conclude
NordVPN usually tops the list for the best VPN in general. However, even though it has unfortunately discontinued the NordVPN PayPal payment option, you could still buy it with another method. You have the option of using credit card, pre-paid card, cryptocurrency, Adyen, Paddle via PayPal, and more.
